The parkette beside the Sachem office has been blooming all summer, thanks to a number of volunteers. The parkette was created in 2009 by Jeff's Lawn Care with funds generated from Garden Tours. In the spring of 2010 volunteers planned the layout, donated and planted approximately 75 perennials along with some annuals from the Adopt-A-Barrel program. Since then, volunteers have been weeding and keeping the colourful parkette maintained. Jeff's Lawn Care has donated lawn cutting and the BIA's watering genius, Robin Pozzo, has looked after the watering. This picture shows just one small area within the parkette.

Well,  it is hard to believe that we are now in September and autumn will soon arrive with all the fall colours.  September also means a busy time for business as things start to gear back up after the long summer vacation.

Many of things that happen in our community are done by volunteers.  These people do a lot of work and ask for nothing in return.  The Chamber would like to show its appreciation for all of these hard working volunteers.  On Wednesday September 15th at 6:00pm the Chamber will holding an appreciation event at the Grand Trunk Station.  This will allow the Chamber to express its appreciation on behalf of everyone in Caledonia for all the work that volunteers have done over the past year.

This year is also an election year for all municipalities across Ontario.  To help the people of Caledonia make an informed decision when they go to the polls to vote the Chamber will be holding an all candidates meeting.  This meeting will take place on October 13th at 7pm.  It will be held at the Lions Hall in Caledonia.  We invite all the people of Caledonia to attend this evening and be a part of the election process.

In effort to continue with open communication between the Chamber and its members a “One minute Survey” will be sent to all Chamber members.   The survey has been designed so that it will not take longer than a few minutes to complete.  However the feedback will be used to help the chamber set its goals for the coming year.  We ask that everyone take a moment to return the survey as your voice is important.  After all it is the member's business that makes the chamber strong.

We are always looking for your feedback, so feel free to contact the chamber or any of the executive members.
