Caboose/Water Tower

The Water Tower, just as it once was, and an original Grand Trunk Caboose sit proudly next to the renovated Grand Trunk Train Station.  The Caboose started its days of service in June 1913 and was retired in July 1978. It came to Caledonia in 1979 and was used as a Pizza, a Fast Food outlet and and hotdog/ice cream booth at Kinsmen Park.  Special Projects/Grand Trunk Society moved the Caboose to the Train Station of a cold winter day January 28, 2003.  It has been refurbished back to its original Caboose days of service. The replica Water Tower was built by Special Projects/Grand Trunk Society in the winter of 2005.

Grand Trunk EngineThe Grand Trunk Engine has been part of Caledonia parades since the Special Projects/Grand Trunk Society group built it around a car chassis in 2000.

Manger SceneCaledonia's Christmas season wouldn't be complete without the Manger scene.  The Special Projects group of volunteers crafted the animals, repaint the figures when needed and keep up the maintenance annually.  They make sure the Manger Scene is in place at Edinburgh Square in front of the former Town Hall building before Christmas in Caledonia the last weekend in November.

Thomas the Engine

Caledonia's Thomas the Engine was built on a riding lawn mower chassis by the Special Projects/Grand Trunk Society group in 2005.  A popular feature of Caledonia parades, Thomas also is a hit with children where it resides at the Grand Trunk Train Station.

Patterson Walkway
The Special Projects/Grand Trunk Society began landscaping, putting up lamp posts and building a walkway along the south bank of the Grand River eastward in 2001.  Names the Patterson Walkway (Park), an extension was incorporated beginning in 2007.  Today, benches, flowers, waste containers and much more are part of the restful walkway park area.  Special Projects also incorporated a bridge under the bridge for walkers, a memorial to Women in War and another memorial stone dedicated to the Patterson Brothers for their work on the walkway.  Constant maintenance is undertaken by the Special Projects group.
